I’m not going to say I won’t do it eventually (I did buy a neck fan after all bc it was a million degrees this summer and I was pregnant/postpartum 🥵), but since I have a baby at the moment, I’ll just use him for some extra weight on my walks. 💪

Easton is 4 months old and had his first plane ride down to Atlanta for a fun weekend with three of my very best friends from home! 🫶

We went to @moraisvineyards on the way in and spent the next day at @messicksfarmmarket but other than that, we just hunkered down at the cabin in Bealton, VA!

The Newborn Fog. Despite the fact that I’m dres

The Newborn Fog.

Despite the fact that I’m dressed, with makeup on, hair done, hanging at the beach with my family, staying in a house with 35 other people with a newborn…I am FULLY in the newborn fog here. Five weeks postpartum with my fifth baby, newborn fog, to be exact. 😴

It’s a weird feeling because as an experienced mom, I know I’m in the newborn fog the first few months but yet, I still feel “normal”-ish. You put on the clothes and you continue on with life, especially if you have other kids to care for, but when you come out of it, you realize it was all a blur. I remember multiple moments where I would stare at a situation and not react and my husband would mention it later and say, “what was that?!?” 😅 That’s when I knew I was much more tired and mentally drained than I realized.

Sometimes you get so good at faking like you’re a normal human being who didn’t just give birth, that you even trick yourself. And sometimes, the exhaustion takes over despite your best efforts! Either way, I promise, the fog will eventually lift! 🤍

When do you start feeling more “normal” after having a baby?

For me, mentally, it’s when I start sleeping through the night around 3-4 months postpartum. Physically, it’s closer to the 1 year mark or after I stop breastfeeding.
